Tigers, SEC No. 1

Congratulations to the LSU Tigers for claiming their second BCS title in five seasons.

The Tigers handily disposed of the “No. 1” team in college football to prove once again that the SEC is the nation’s preeminent conference.

There IS no better conference than the SEC.

(Well, maybe one: the AFC South. But that doesn’t count.)

I never doubted for one moment the SEC’s status as the nation’s top conference, but there were those who actually did.

Really.

They actually thought (laugh, laugh, giggle, giggle) the SEC was down (laugh, laugh, giggle, giggle) because Arkansas and Florida lost bowl games.

The Tigers accepted the crown from Florida, which bumped off the Ohio State Buckeyes en route to the title last season.

Some people NEVER learn.

And guess who finished No. 2 in the nation behind LSU.

That’s right, Georgia – another one of those SEC teams.

Some people JUST WON’T LISTEN.

Will they, Jimmy?

Larry, give Jimmy a break. He got mad at me last night when I made a joke, so we'll let it go. He's not going to come on and say the SEC is best, so don't hold your breath.
The SEC went 7-2 in bowls this season. 7 and freaking 2.
Listening to the national media on the way up from New Orleans this morning, no one ... even Big Ten folks are even arguing the SEC's prowess.
That is the case now, but I hope it changes sometime soon. I'm not an SEC guy, I'm a Miami fan, so I hope the ACC, actually the Canes, can get somewhat competitive soon.
They were even more dominant than LSU is now at the beginning of this decade. It's funny how fast things can change.
When it does, even temporarily, just remember times like these Tiger fans!

Sorry about that, Jimmy. I'll let it rest.

Don't worry, Roy. I've been a fan since Mike Archer was coach, so I am well aware how a team's fortunes can vary from one season to the next. I am going to savor the past several seasons for the rest of my life.
