Lady Tigers fans will hate me, but you know I'm right

LSU is extremely, EXTREMELY lucky to be heading to Boston.

That charge Seimone Augustus took with 4.8 seconds remaining in the game...that wasn't a charge.
There! I said it. It's out in the open now, so we can talk about it.

First, Augustus was sliding into Stanford's Candice Wiggins. Watch the replays, like we did in the newsroom last night and it's indisputable that she's still in motion as she comes over to defend Wiggins.

Second, that official who made the call never should have made the call. That's all I've ever heard from sports fans - Let the players decide the outcome of the game, not the officials.
Especially on a call as close as that one (and Wiggins dishing the ball off), it's better to have a no-call and let the ball bounce where it may.

Not only should they hate you, you're wrong!

Slide job or not, you can't come down the court out of control and slam into another player clearing the way for your hired gun to drop a three-pointer from the corner.

You can't go rewarding/excusing players who play out of control. Wiggins could have just as effectively driven into the lane and dished off a pass without slobber-knocking Augustus to the hardwood.

While on the topic, let's hear it for Coach Chats! Mark of a great coach is how well the team performs after the break. Check the stats, LSU women have outscored their opponents by more than 50 points in the second half this tournament.

Michael Messerley is, of course, wrong! Let's ignore the fact that nobody from Nebraska should be allowed to comment about basketball. The only player out of control was Augustus. Well, actually, she was quite in control and driving forward fully aware she was trying to draw a foul. NO CHARGE!!! NO CALL!!!

Wiggins was out of control?! What game were you watching?? Seriously.

Didn't you see the replay? Augustus was still moving into position when she hit Wiggins and stopped her drive to the basket.

The definition of charging is that the defensive player must be set, right? It doesn't matter if Wiggins was out of control or not, Augustus was not set and planted to take the charge.

I'll give credit where credit was due. LSU has had an amazing run to the Final Four. But, should they be in Boston? I don't know considering a referee decided to become part of the game and possibly change the final outcome.

Count on both Brians to prove again that two wrongs don't make a right!

It was the right call. So right that you didn't even see anyone on the Stanford bench protesting. And believe me, there's nothing California-based students know how to do better than protest.

Look you two, make like the Cardinal women and stuff your mouths full with granola because the better team won on a legit call.

I have no doubt the best team won. Pokey has had the better team for three years now and can't win it all. She apparently learned well from both Daddy Dale and The Old Gray Mare.
