LHSAA does the right thing

Kudos to Teurlings Catholic principal Mike Boyer for tabling the six amendment proposal that would have forced a vote on the elimination of spring football. The LHSAA has it right as it is now. If schools don't want to have spring football, then they don't have to have it. The choice belongs to the school. Yes, you can try to make an argument for eliminating spring football. But more harm than good is done that way. Leaving the decision to the schools is the right way to go.

Ok so i agree with the decision but what about us with other sports inmind. High School baseball can't step on the field till January 2nd! Does that mean that we can now hold fall practices? Wouldn't that be fair if you gave all the high school sports the right to choose to practice in their off season?

By the way anyone wondering why two varsity baseball coaches resigned on the same day at Northwood high? Saw the article week before last about Starkey taking over but then it said Timms was weighing his options. Whats that about? No varsity coach I know would resign their position and keep teaching at the same school. Coaches teach so that they can coach!!!! no coach resigns to just teach. There is something definately going on there!!!

Scott Ferrell is, of course, wrong. Spring football is just another example of our backward thinking in Louisiana that we have to improve our students as athletes rather than as students. It is not the job of schools to provide athletic talent to universities. It is the job of schools to educate students.
